First Aid & CPR at Workplace

INTRODUCTION

Accidents and Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any place and at any time. Medical records show 95% of accidents and emergencies occur away from a medical facility. Prompt action by a bystander can save a life. Doing the right thing with the right techniques makes the difference between life and death. Have your staff been trained in CPR and Emergency First Aid.

The Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 place a general duty on employers to ensure that adequate first aid provision is made for their employees if they are injured at work.

This means that the employer must provide, as a minimum, an appointed person at all times to take care of the emergency requirements at work. In low-risk situations, an employer will need to arrange for a First Aider during normal working hours for every 20 employees.
